Coastal Stone 450 x 450 Outdoor Pavers - Charcoal
Sealing pavers can help to protect pavers from the damage that may occur due to weathering, grime, mould, dirt, oil and other substances like red wine!

Paver sealers act as particle repellents that help to prevent stains from paving surfaces. Particular penetrating paver sealers may help to prevent and eliminate corrosion or salt attack.

However, sealers are not only used because of its durability – but it also has appearance enhancing benefits in colour, texture and design. Sealers can aid in the enhancement of paver colours and surface textures, while other sealers offer an unaltered natural appearance to your paver.

Let’s discuss the different type of sealers to provide the best protection to your pavers.

Different Type Of Sealers

Australian Paving Centre provides the widest range of pavers in South Australia. While sealers are essential, you can’t simply apply any sealer that you find in a hardware store. Different pavers need a particular type of sealer.

Cementaide Driwal P6

For this natural type of sealer that does not alter the appearance of the paver, we recommend Cementaide Driwal P6. It’s a silicon-based penetrative sealer suitable for the long-term protection of pavers such as:

The natural penetrating sealers may only be detected once the liquid is poured on to the surface of the paver. In this instance, you will see water bead on the surface of the paver, for example.

At APC, we also strongly recommend Driwal P6 for our block wall systems. This sealer is easy to apply with a general household garden sprayer. It helps to eliminate fungi, mould and stop general weathering and staining of the walling blocks.

Cementaide Silicon S50

Other paver sealers offer a blend of penetrating sealant that works its way into the substrate of the paver. It leaves a light acrylic surface coat that enhances the colour of the paver product and gives a slight sheen appearance to the paver. A bit like a satin finish.

This type of sealer seems to be the most popular from our experience. This sealer type also tends to make it easier to clean your entertainment area.

The product we recommend in this case is Cementaide Silicon S50. It’s an excellent product consisting of a 50/50 mix of silicon-based Driwal P6 and a glossy acrylic-based sealer named LB9, again another Cementaide product.

Silicon S50 gives long-term protection to the following paver products:

Cementaide Acrylic Based LB9

The LB9 sealer is a type of paver sealer that coats the top of the paver as a penetrating surface coat. This tends to be a thicker glossier finish, which acts as a repellent against staining, weathering, dirt oil & grease.

The LB9 will make the cleaning of pavers with a blower vac or hosing down very easy! It enhances the paver product colours and gives a wet look appearance. It also assists in removing the effects of efflorescence.

LB9 is an acrylic resin in a penetrating solvent and contains no silicon.

Acrylic sealers are easy to apply and are known to be extremely cost-effective. It has high UV repellency and helps in enduring the colour of pavers. It provides long term protection for brickwork, pavers, roof tiles and concrete where a long-lasting gloss finish is required.
